Used EVs Defy Overall Market

While the used-car market saw three months of price declines or stagnation, the used EV segment did the opposite – rising for three straight months.

Used electric vehicle prices have risen for three consecutive months following a brief dip in March, the average price reaching $33,305 in June.

ISeeCars.com analyzed over 1.8 million 1- to 5-year-old used cars sold in June 2025 and June 2026, finding a 7% increase in the average used EV price despite the average used-vehicle price dropping 1% year-over-year.

“A shopper who delayed buying a used electric vehicle this spring may now face a noticeably higher price, even as the broader used car market remains flat or down,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer.

“While gas prices surged in March at the start of the Iran conflict, it took about a month of sustained high prices before used car shoppers shifted back toward EVs.”

Five out of the top 20 used models with the largest year-over-year price increases were EVs, and all four Tesla models were among the top 10. The Model X led the market at $60,950, up about 18%.

At the same time, no fully electric vehicles made the list of the 20 used models with the largest year-over-year price declines. However, three hybrid models made the top 10: the Lincoln Corsair at No. 1, the Audi Q5 at No. 3 and the Ford F-150 at No. 8.

Data compiled by Edmunds, meanwhile, shows that Tesla owners trading in their vehicles are opting for non-EVs at higher rates than other EV traders. The data provider said Tesla owners who bought another EV fell from 40% in last year's second quarter to 22% in this year's second quarter. And a record 21% of Tesla trade-ins at franchised dealers went toward hybrid auto purchases.
