Low Price, Long Life: 2026 New-Car Rankings

The Honda Civic is named the most reliable new car for the money at $27,768 with a predicted 13½ year life span, breaking down to $2,058 annually, or less than half the industry average.

Car buyers looking for longest-lasting models at lower prices would be interested in iSeeCars ranking of the most reliable new cars for the money in 2026. 

The average price of new cars sold between July and December 2025 was $46,699, with an 11-year predicted lifespan based on odometer readings of 400 million used cars iSeeCars analyzed in a vehicle longevity study. That breaks down to $4,251 per service year.

“Consumers are keeping their cars longer to combat the strain of rising new car prices,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer. “For buyers looking to maximize their ownership period while minimizing the cost of replacing a vehicle, we’ve identified which new models offer the longest lifespan at the lowest price.”

The Honda Civic ranks No. 1 at $27,768 with a predicted 13½ -year life span, or $2,058 per year, less than half the industry average. The Toyota Corolla came in a close second at $25,423 with an 11.3 year lifespan, or $2,258 per year. 

Honda, Nissan and Toyota have four models each in the automotive search engine and research website's top 25. The Jeep Compass is the first U.S. model to show up on the list, taking 16th place. 

The segmented rankings are as follows:

  • Most reliable new small SUV: Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

  • Most reliable new midsize SUV: Toyota 4Runner

  • Most reliable new full-size SUVs: Buick Enclave 

  • Most reliable new small cars: Honda Civic.

  • Most reliable new midsize cars: Honda Accord 

  • Most reliable new midsize trucks: Toyota Tacoma

  • Most reliable new full-size trucks: Toyota Tundra 

  • Most reliable new hybrids: Toyota Prius
