Tesla, which has been probed over its models’ estimated driving range between charges, has seen the estimates cut after a U.S. Department of Justice inquiry.

Edmunds reported that the Environmental Protection Agency cut official range estimates on Tesla models S, Y and X to levels approaching those Edmunds said it found in testing.

The company said it’s tested eight Tesla models and found that none meet the EPA estimate.

The justice department launched an investigation of Tesla range estimates last year. Reuters, meanwhile, reported that the U.S. EV market leader had adjusted dashboard range meters to indicate higher range mileage than the models actually achieved and created a team to divert consumer range complaints.

U.S. consumers cite worry about having enough range between charges as a major factor for sticking with gas-powered models, so manufacturers are incentivized to offer as much range as they can to entice EV adoption.
