Year-over-year global electric-vehicle sales rose nearly 50% in February, driven by various factors in different regions.
The bump put sales for the month at 1.2 million, according to London-based EV research provider Rho Motion.
In the U.S., EV sales grew as consumers took advantage of federal tax credits before they’re eliminated on the plans of the Trump administration. In the first two months of the year, its EV sales are up 28%, according to the report.
Year-to-date global sales are up 30%. China leads the way despite U.S. trade tariffs, with a 35% increase as it expands overseas deliveries, including to Mexico, where EV sales have more than doubled. Its domestic sales are up 46%.
In Europe, pure-EV sales are up 29% so far this year, Rho Motion said.
EV market leader Tesla’s deliveries are down sharply, its January sales in Europe falling 47% and China sales 15% despite those markets’ overall strong EV sales growth.
