Used Sales Dipped in June
CDK systems outage at least partly to blame. Cox foresees recovery this month.

Used-vehicle sales fell in June, at least partially due to the more than two-week CDK Global software shutdown.
Retail sales via franchised and independent dealers fell about 8% month-over-month to 1.4 million units, according to Cox Automotive. That’s still up nearly 1.5% year-over-year.
The dip was at least partly on paper rather than all lost sales, said Cox, which expects the slide to be reversed this month.
“While reporting was more disrupted than actual sales, we estimate a decline in used retail sales for June compared to May. However, much like a weather event, we believe any lost sales in June will be recovered in July,” said Cox Senior Analyst of Economic and Industry Insights Scott Vanner.
Certified preowned sales figures also fell in the month, also down about 8% to approximately 209,000, or a 7% year-over-year drop, according to Cox. Year-to-date CPO sales are flat compared to last year.
