American automakers’ models were the most popular used-vehicle choices last year.

Research by iSeeCars.com found that a trio of full-size trucks in particular did the best of all in the used market.

Ford’s F-150, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the Ram 1500 topped all used sales last year. In fact, the F-150 was the most purchased used vehicle in 26 of the 50 biggest cities.

In a pickup-SUV tug-of-war, the Ram 1500 regained the third-place spot from the midsize Chevrolet Equinox SUV after the latter knocked the 1500 from that position the previous year.

Still, SUVs hung on to the most popular vehicle type crown with 65 of the 100 entries and taking 14 of the top 25 spots.

Some purely electric models made headway in the rankings, with two on the list for the first time. Debuting was the Tesla model Y, which placed 74th. Meanwhile, Tesla’s Model 3 jumped from 47th to 30th.

“While it’s not surprising to see trucks and SUVs dominating the list of popular used models, it is surprising to see an electric car, Tesla’s Model 3, make the top 30 ranking,” said Karl Brauer, iSeeCars Executive Analyst. “That’s the first time an EV has made the top 30.
