Open Dealer Exchange Stays on Cutting Edge of Industry Technology with New Cloud-based Solutions

TROY – Open Dealer Exchange, LLC, a technology leader that streamlines the auto buying process, has partnered with Datapipe to develop a custom cloud-based infrastructure built on the company’s Stratosphere platform. The improvements and growth to their network strengthen Open Dealer Exchange’s position at the forefront of cloud-technology adoption within the industry.


“As ‘cloud computing’ has grown as a buzz phrase within the industry, a lot of companies are claiming that they embrace the technology. But often times what they are offering are not genuine cloud-based solutions,” said Abdullah Haydar, Chief Technology Officer of Open Dealer Exchange. “As a company that was founded on innovation, we are truly utilizing cloud computing to the benefit of our clients.”

Cloud computing allows users to access very complex business services via internet-connected technologies versus having to install, configure and maintain local servers and software. Information and programs on the cloud are stored remotely and accessible over the internet regardless of location or device.


“The fully customized, low-cost solution Datapipe architected for us helps increase efficiencies, provide greater flexibility in our operations and lowers capital costs,” adds Haydar. “Because of this, lenders and providers are choosing to work with Open Dealer Exchange because they can potentially realize these same benefits.”


Datapipe seamlessly transitioned Open Dealer Exchange to the new high performance network that enables on-demand scale and a robust Disaster Recovery infrastructure which meets the Open Dealer Exchange’s required uptime for mission critical assets.

Open Dealer Exchange, founded in 2009 as a joint venture between Automatic Data Processing (ADP) and the Reynolds & Reynolds Company, integrates a finance source or F&I product provider directly within a dealership’s main computer network, otherwise known as a dealer management system (DMS). By eliminating the need for automotive dealers to log into multiple systems or re-key data into various applications during a sale, this innovative process results in increased operational efficiencies, reduced contract errors, and a more streamlined process with a lender or provider’s franchised dealerships.

Open Dealer Exchange has benefitted from cloud-based technology both in providing its services to clients and in increasing efficiency of its own internal operations. According to Haydar, the first benefit clients will realize with cloud computing are upfront cost savings.


“Historically, offering a service like this would require the development of custom code and infrastructure for unique integration points on a per-client basis,” said Haydar. “But with our suite of cloud-based services, we’re able to take almost any existing computer service they may be using and tie it into our XML-based, STAR-compliant systems. This saves our clients money with a significantly lower initial capital investment and gets their product to market sooner.”


Haydar added that Open Dealer Exchange realizes the need for maximum security measures and has therefore ensured that all cloud services are compliant with PCI standards, which exceeds the business requirements for their industry.


In addition to the cloud computing model which benefits Open Dealer Exchange customers, the company utilizes other cloud technologies for a number of internal functions as well including company e-mail, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), phone services, and other key business applications.
