Roadside Warnings Debut
Mazda works with AAA and a technology company to alert passersby to stranded vehicles from its lineup, for both parties’ safety.

Drivers in markets where the alerts are enabled can receive warnings to slow down and move over via mapping applications or through a Safety Cloud-connected vehicle

In a partnership with AAA to keep travelers safe as they wait for help, Mazda is warning motorists when one of its vehicles is stranded on a roadside.
The new feature of Mazda’s emergency roadside assistance service, enabled by Haas Alert Safety Cloud technology, warns approaching travelers of Mazdas stopped along roads, activated upon requests for help.
Drivers in markets where the alerts are enabled can receive warnings to slow down and move over via mapping applications or through a Safety Cloud-connected vehicle.
The Japanese automaker pointed out that motorists stranded on roadsides are at risk, as are travelers passing by them.
"Some of the most dangerous moments on the road happen after the initial event, when other drivers come up on a stopped or disabled vehicle without warning,” said Jennifer Morrison, director of vehicle safety strategy for the automaker’s North American arm.
“By working with AAA and HAAS Alert, we're extending the protection of a Mazda vehicle to not only our customers, but also to everyone on the road around it."
The added safety feature is available for eligible Mazda models whose drivers have emergency roadside assistance service. The automaker didn’t specify which vehicles or markets have it.
