OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. — Warranty Alternatives has announced the nationwide rollout of Universal Repair Coverage (URC), a new entire-vehicle coverage option for higher-mileage vehicles.

URC offers a simple-to-understand and simple-to-use 50% exclusionary repair reimbursement benefit and annual auto deductible insurance benefit alongside rental car, roadside assistance and trip interruption cash benefits… all for half the cost of a traditional exclusionary service contract. “URC is also equal to or less than the cost of a good Powertrain or Powertrain Plus stated component service contract,” explains National Sales Director Dave Bafumo.

“The program’s unique blend of benefits, plus unlimited driving mileage (contract expiration by term only) appeals to a broad spectrum of consumers, especially those six in ten dealership customers who say “No” to or cannot afford a good service contract,” according to Dave.

Bafumo said the launch of URC was driven by the needs of dealerships that retail vehicles with more than 60,000 miles on the odometer. Describing Universal Repair Coverage as a “balanced alternative,” Bafumo listed the following benefits:

  • Exclusionary coverage with no claims preauthorization or administration, regardless of the vehicle’s age or mileage at the time of sale,

  • A 50% repair benefit claim for every mechanical and electrical breakdown – with no fine print, no parts limitations, and no labor limits.

  • A coverage contract and point of sale materials designed to highlight benefits and terms and conditions with no hidden surprises or loopholes for customers.

Universal Repair Coverage is designed for Dealerships and Agents who understand and appreciate the marketing appeal, profit potential, customer service value and customer satisfaction implications of an exclusionary repair benefit for high mileage vehicles with no claims pre-authorization or service department repair negotiations.

“In my experience, that all adds up to one thing: happier customers who’ll come back for repeat business,” Bafumo said.
