The recall affects:

  • Honda Odyssey Minivans (2018 to 2019)

  • Honda Ridgeline Trucks (2017 to 2019)

  • Acura TLX SUVs (2015 to 2020)

  • Acura MDX SUVs (2016 to 2020)

The federal agency says the connecting rod bearings can wear out and seize up because of a manufacturing error, causing damage to the engines. Poor engine performance or stalling while driving may result, leading to crashes, injuries or fires, it said.

Dealers will inspect and repair or replace the engine as necessary, free of charge, the agency said. Owner notification letters will be mailed Jan, 2. Owners can contact Honda customer service at (888) 234-2138. Honda's numbers for the recalls are XG1 and GG0.
