WASHINGTON, D.C - According to documents on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Web site, GM is recalling nearly 45,000 Chevrolet Sonic models, produced from May 2011 - Feb. 2012. The defect is in the windshield wiping and washing system, and states that in the effected vehicles, the hose for the wiper fluid can become detached, meaning no fluid can get through to the windshield to clean it.

GM WIll begin notifying owners in early September, and will replace the defective part for free at its dealerships.
