Hyundai Expands Windshield Wiper Recall
Palisade wipers can fail in snowy and icy weather.

Snowy conditions can lead to failure of the Hyundai Palisade's windshield wipers.

Hyundai Motor America has recalled over 167,000 2021- to 2023-model Palisade vehicles for possible windshield wiper failure.
The recall expands a previous U.S. recall for the same issue, when Hyundai recalled 122,919 Palisades for windshield wiper failure in August.
When snow or ice builds up on the windshield, it can cause the windshield motor to fail or operate intermittently, which can reduce visibility and increase crash risks, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Office of Defects Investigation has received six additional complaints of wipers failing in wintery conditions since the original recall. A recall query has been opened to assess the scope and remedy of the initial recall.
Dealers will replace the driver-side windshield wiper arm at no charge. NHTSA will notify owners by mail beginning May 16. Hyundai also will reimburse owners who previously paid for remedies to the recall issue. NHTSA reports that the cause of the issue is still under investigation.
