Tavares called the Avenger the first “pure-EV Jeep.” It’s scheduled to be in showrooms next year, and reservations for it will open next week.

The carmaker is targeting all of its passenger sales in Europe to be battery electric models by 2030, and half of passenger car and light-duty truck BEV sales in the U.S. by that year.

Other carmakers, including Mercedes-Benz, are also planning their own energy-production.

Stellantis was formed in 2021 via a 50-50 merger of Fiat Chrysler and the French PSA Group.
