About Portfolio
Because the Portfolio business model delivers the maximum benefit to the dealer principal, Portfolio agents typically get all of the business and enjoy a more permanent, high-level, and non-adversarial relationship with the dealer.
What Portfolio does: Founded in 1990 and a pioneer of the reinsurance business model, Portfolio delivers comprehensive reinsurance company management services to automobile, RV, motorcycle and powersport dealers.
The Portfolio Difference: Portfolio’s policies protect all of the dealer’s rights of ownership in the company. The dealer’s company is structured for their true ownership of 100% of the underwriting profits and investment income. We enjoy very stable long-term relationships with the dealers we share with Portfolio agents for this reason.
As evidence, Portfolio has earned a top ranking for VSC Reinsurance for 11 straight years in the annual Dealers’ Choice Awards.
As of mid-2018 Portfolio dealers have issued over 4.6 million VSCs and warranties, with over $2 Billion in premiums, an earned loss ratio of 43%, plus accrued investment income of over $507 Million. This totals over $1.4 Billion in fully earned pre-tax profits. No other company reports anything close to this level of participation profits.
Unique Selling Proposition: No other program matches up across the board in delivering so many profitable benefits to the dealership owner. The dealer’s rights of ownership govern all of our policies and practices. As a result, our dealers make more money and Portfolio agents have seen the growth in their business far exceed the underlying growth in the US automotive industry.
Comprehensive product line: Our very profitable Portfolio Protection product line includes vehicle service contracts, CPO and limited warranties, GAP, bundled products, appearance protection, theft protection, loyalty, maintenance, and other proven ownership protection products to meet the dealership’s F&I goals and brand strategy.
Our products are all backed by stable A- Rated insurers and administered by the top warranty administrators in the nation.
The best agents: Portfolio has no employee agents and is proud to be represented nationwide by the best independent professional agents in the industry.
