The 2024 ID.4, a midsize SUV, earned the Top Safety Pick of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The ID.4 wins the next-to-highest award given by IIHS.

The vehicle missed getting the organization’s top safety award because it undergo IIHS’ updated moderate overlap front test.

The vehicle missed getting the organization’s top safety award because it undergo IIHS’ updated moderate overlap front test, though the group didn’t explain the reason.
For the Top Safety Pick honor the ID.4 did win, vehicles must get good ratings in IIHS’ small overlap front, original moderate overlap front and updated side tests, plus acceptable or good headlights marks in all trims and in a revised pedestrian front crash-prevention test.
