Negotiations between Renault and Nissan on a partnership update are continuing longer than people close to the talks had anticipated, Reuters reported.

The carmakers had been expected to announce a new deal this month and were hammering out issues important to each. An updated deal that would have been unveiled as early as Wednesday is looking like it will be delayed, the news agency said.

The French carmaker and its Japanese partner have been discussing sticking points, including Nissan investment in Renault’s electric-vehicle business and Nissan’s wish for Renault to sell part of its stake in Nissan for a more equal partnership.

Sources who spoke with Reuters about the talks said the two had still not come together on sharing of intellectual property.
