LAS VEGAS — Organizers of the annual Agent Summit have announced that Tony Wanderon of National Auto Care and Ben Woods of Allstate Dealer Services will present “The GAP Crisis: Would You Underwrite It?” at the 2019 event, scheduled for May 19–22 at the Venetian & Palazzo Resort Hotel Casinos in Las Vegas.

“Everyone must be aware of escalating loss experience, but two subject matter experts will put a spotlight on trends realized in recent years,” said Randy Crisorio, chair of the Agent Summit advisory board and president and CEO of United Development Systems. “Expect to hear answers to questions of both claims frequency and severity as they take the long view of GAP viability.”

The 45-minute tag-team presentation will begin on Monday, May 20, at 1:40 p.m. The speakers pledged to look back at the challenges GAP has faced in its 30-year history, gauge its current and future performance, and ask agents whether they would choose to underwrite the risk.

“I am excited to not only serve on the Agent Summit 2019 Advisory Board but to also present on the state of the GAP market with Ben Woods from Allstate Dealer Service,” said Wanderon, CEO of NAC. “I am sure it will be an informative and entertaining event for those agents able to attend.”

“GAP losses remain elevated as the industry seeks to adapt to the significant loss trends experienced in recent years,” added Woods, an actuary who serves as loss modeling manager for Allstate DS. “I’m excited to discuss the changes in lending, total losses, and used vehicle values which have driven the industry to a new normal of large and frequent GAP claims.”
