LAS VEGAS — Organizers of Agent Summit announced that Gil Van Over will present a session dedicated to the agent’s role in regulatory compliance at the event, which is scheduled for May 21–24, 2017, at Paris Las Vegas.
Van Over is the founder and president of gvo3 & Associates and executive director of Automotive Compliance Education (ACE), which will offer Automotive Compliance Specialist certification to Agent Summit attendees on Monday, May 22. His session, “Compliance of Today,” will begin at 4:10 p.m. the following day.
“Gil is pulling double duty at this year’s show, and we appreciate his efforts,” said David Gesualdo, show chair and publisher of Agent Entrepreneur and F&I and Showroom. “Agents deserve a clear explanation of their role in protecting their agencies and their dealers from regulatory scrutiny, and Gil will deliver exactly that.”
Describing the content as “critical” to the agent body, Van Over said his session will cover the agent’s role as a compliance monitor — rather than a compliance cop — and deconstruct the tripartite relationship among dealerships, F&I providers and regulators.
“Agents need to walk the compliance fine line,” Van Over said. “Dealers often look to them for compliance, but the agent needs to be focused on production using compliant practices. The agent needs to be current on current compliance issues as well as have an understanding of when it is time to call in the compliance experts.”
Registration for Agent Summit 2017 is open at the event’s website. ACE certification is offered for no additional charge, and attendees who register by April 21 will enjoy a $100 discount.
